Curtis W. Callaway

For over 34 years, Curtis has had a camera in his hand, capturing the best scenes of nature, culture, people, and places. His passion for adventure, for travel, for photography, for education and for their intersections has led him to over 25 countries on six different continents.

Curtis graduated with a degree in fine art photography and film from Brooks Institute of photography in 1991. He developed a special interest in marine biology and from Southern California he leapt into a career of underwater photography and lecturing with clients such as Jean Michel Cousteau. After his aquatic adventures, Curtis owned and operated an advertising agency in Arlington, Texas, working on commercials and print advertisements for elite clients. He also established himself as a talented and high-demand freelance photographer and now runs Curtis W. Callaway Fine Art Photography, a custom photography and print studio in downtown Clifton, Texas. Throughout his career, Curtis’s work has appeared in television, movies, documentaries, magazines, and galleries.

Since 2009, Curtis has served in a role that perfectly allows him to combine his two greatest passions: teaching and photography. As a senior lecturer of journalism, public relations, and new media at Baylor University, Curtis has bettered the lives and skills of hundreds of students. Now, though, he’s off on a new adventure, but bringing the teaching, photography, and students along with him.

Beginning in 2023, Curtis will serve as founder and senior guide of Glyph, an adventure travel-photography workshop company. Along with other expert guides, Curtis will take groups of photographers of all ages and skillsets to the places he has been documenting for decades, helping you improve your photography skills along the way. Glyph Workshops are available to anyone interested in improving their photography skills and seeing the world.

In between all this travel and teaching, Curtis and his wife, Kaye, live out their best lives on her family farm in Bosque County, Texas. Don’t think he neglects his photography duties here, though. Some of his best works come just minutes from his back porch. That’s the power of learning to see the world the way Curtis Callaway sees it and crafting a skill to capture the best moments in front of you.

So join Curtis on the journey ahead of you: adventure and your chance to capture it.
